The Next Chapter of Cyclista Zine and Our Continued Commitment as Feminist Killjoys in the Outdoors

Posted on Patreon July 8, 2024

Dearest CZ Supporters,

As we approach a significant transition at Cyclista Zine this summer, I want to share some reflections and updates with our cherished community and supporters. It's been an incredibly rewarding journey to create and curate feminist media in the outdoors, and I'm filled with gratitude as we move into the next chapter of our story in collaboration with Terra Incognita Media.

From the outset, Cyclista Zine has been more than just a publication; it's been a vibrant platform for diverse voices in the cycling world. Each zine we published brought new perspectives and challenged the status quo, making our community richer and more inclusive. The discussions around every piece—whether tackling the tough topics of representation, accessibility, or the sheer joy of cycling—have been profoundly fulfilling. It's been a privilege to be part of these conversations and to see how sharing our voices can create change.

However, life's evolving challenges require us to adapt and rethink how we continue our mission. This summer, Cyclista Zine will be shuttering its regular publication to focus on a project that encapsulates the essence of what we've built: "The Cyclista Zine Collection." This book, set to release this fall, will compile the most impactful stories we've shared, preserving the legacy and the transformative narratives that have defined us.

As we undertake this self-publishing endeavor, I'm reaching out to our Patreon supporters to stay on this journey with us. Your continued support will allow us to bring this collection to life, to support our artist, printing and copyright. For your continued support, you'll receive weekly updates on our progress. For those contributing $10 or less will be given a discount code and those contributing $25 or more will be sent a complimentary copy of the collection as a token of our appreciation.

Additionally, we have a limited stock of past issues available—specifically issues 4, 5, 7, 8, and 9. Purchasing these issues is a fantastic way to support our transition into self-publishing, and every sale helps fund the creation of "The Cyclista Zine Collection."

It is with a mixture of sadness and gratitude that I also share that I will be archiving the Cyclista Zine Instagram and closing Patreon in October. I am profoundly grateful for the support, encouragement, and contributions our community has offered over the years. Your involvement has been vital to our work, and I hope you will continue to engage with us in new ways as we move forward.

For continuing updates and more feminist media in the outdoors, I encourage you to visit Terra Incognita Media, where I'll be collaborating on future publications. No matter where we write or ride, we will remain staunch feminist killjoys in the outdoors, dedicated to challenging norms and advocating for radical change.

While this transition is bittersweet, I am excited about the opportunities it brings to deepen our impact. While we're closing one chapter, the essence of Cyclista Zine—the spirit of community, advocacy, and shared stories—will continue to thrive in new and dynamic ways.

Thank you for your support, your engagement, and your belief in our work. It means the world to have you with us as we enter this new phase, continuing to amplify voices and stories that inspire and provoke thought. Here's to the next part of our adventure together.

For those who wish to continue their support, I look forward to sharing our journey with "The Cyclista Zine Collection" and hearing from you.

Peace, love, and bicycle grease

Christina
