Abortion Is Reproductive Justice Zines And Resources

As the leaked draft of a majority Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v Wade makes news and protest to protect Roe are underway, it is helpful to know where and what resources you can turn to in these times.

Zines are a great way to disseminate information without the threat of online surveillance. Zines have long been an essential means to share critical health and safety information on reproductive justice. While anti-choice forces will use confusion about rulings to proffer misinformation to make abortion access seem impossible, the fight for access must happen on many fronts and information is an enormous one.

Abortion and reproductive healthcare are absolutely queer and trans issues, so please be mindful to center their experiences and rights when talking about access to reproductive care.

I’ve compiled a few zines for your access and distribution. These zines are intended to be informational and not “how-to” manuals. Again, this is meant to help folks make informed choices about reproductive options including different methods of contraception, pregnancy and childbirth, and the ability to end a pregnancy as desired. If you need to get an abortion or know someone who might, try contacting Planned Parenthood (in the U.S.) or The International Campaign for Women’s Right to Safe Abortion (global).

A lot of the research for this list came from Jenna Freedman’s article Unreproductive: Zines on Herbal Abortion and Menstrual Extraction at Zinelibraries.info, which is focused library holdings, and the Let’s Talk About DIY Sexuality Zines handout (PDF) by Emily Bee.

Click on link below. Please feel free to distribute at protests, organizing groups, and bike protests. It’s on all of us to educate ourselves, each other, and advocate for abortion and LGBTQ-supportive policies within our own communities. Be sure that any “actions” you are participating in have connections to clinics or existing repro groups to support.
