‘Outsider’ Released
I am SO EXCITED to finally announce the release of Cyclista Zine’s "Outsider" issue!
About “Outsider”:
Outsider shares how economic, social, and political constructs have always shaped the way the outdoor industry, recreationists, planning, and environmentalists approach natural and urban spaces.
Outsider builds on the historical and current social and political legacy of America to examine how the construct of Outsider impacts the way we identify as an insider and outsider, how we live and recreate, and how the constant structures of Outsider play throughout today. In essence, issue six examines what we have always been challenging with building equity in bike spaces so that we aren’t centering “just riding bikes" as often said in an attempt to put aside politics. The ability to ride, train, climb, and move across The Land freely is built upon engaging in structures that create Outsiders. And in order to change the future, and to include all life, we must interrogate our narratives as insiders and outsiders.
Issue six has titles like “Members Only, A Critique of Inclusivity” by Guarina Lopez. “Camera As A Weapon: Photographing For Your People” by Eric Arce, “Nature As Outsider: Why we are disconnected from nature” by Kamana Rai, and “Mobility Justice Furtures For Black, Queer and Disabled Folks” by Jacob Smith. We also challenging the campaign #Outsideisfree, share historical and current art works of resistance agains gentrification and highways expansions, and chunky essays, poems, and images to depict the constructs of outsider throughout the zine.
The hope of issue six is that we find creative ways of resistance and find ways to change the narrative about who belongs and is worthy of being included Outside.

I want to express my deepest gratitude to every single one of you for supporting the zine. After closing Patreon, it’s been a bit of a challenge to get the type of support we’ve had before but consolidating to one platform has made life and the zine easier to manage. I could never thank enough, those who have made the switch from Patreon with me to continuing to support & value the zine and labor of artists of color. Along with being able to pay the wages of all of the contributors, your support also assists with the costs of printing/shipping worldwide.
Thank you for helping to make Cyclista Zine sustainable. Please stay safe & continue to practice collective care, mutual aid, & uplift each other during these trying times.
Peace, Radical Love, and Bicycle Grease,
Christina
